Advanced settings

Before you start your first bout, it is worth spending a minute on the settings. The Calibur app is more than just a simple scoreboard: it is a flexible tool that you can customize for training, lessons, or refereeing.

Table Of Contents

Scoreboard controls

Looking to customize your screen making it easier to track and manage bouts? Here you’ll find how to adjust languages, toggle display elements like timers and bout counters, and take manual control of the score whenever needed.
First, select your preferred language in the menu. The app currently supports English, German, French, Italian, and Chinese. By default, the app scores automatically, but if you want to adjust the score manually, you can use the plus and minus buttons above and below the numbers. Tapping directly on the score resets it to zero.
You can also choose which elements appear on your scoreboard. Even if you turn off the display of the plus and minus icons, you can still modify the scores by tapping on their usual location. Additionally, you can show or hide the timer, scores, and bout counter, which referees can find very useful. You can also toggle the cloud icon anytime to save and analyze your session results.

Calibur app extra settings

Tailor hit recognition and scoring parameters to fit your exact training goals. This section covers timing adjustments, lockout windows, referee overrides, and weapon-specific settings for foil.
You can fine-tune timing windows and signal durations based on your training focus. Adjusting the double touch window lets you determine the maximum time interval allowed between two hits to still register as a simultaneous double touch.
Similarly, for fast-paced coaching drills, shorten the indication signal, or instantly restore standard FIE values with a single tap.
When refereeing or running demonstrations, you can disable automatic touch counting to award points manually, or set the app to register every touch as valid regardless of the surface. For foil fencers, bellguard hit registration can easily be toggled on or off depending on your practice goals.

Remote control

Once your scoreboard is configured, you might want to use it for refereeing. The Remote Controller app is designed to fit into your rhythm on the strip: it doesn’t change how you referee, but it lets you use the Calibur app and our wireless scoring system without missing a beat, fitting seamlessly into the flow of our system.
Connecting the two apps takes only a moment:
  1. Download the Calibur Remote Controller app from the App Store, Google Play, or Amazon Store.

  2. Open the Calibur app on one device and Remote Controller on another, then place both on the same Wi-Fi network (this can even be a simple offline hotspot).

  3. Enable remote control mode in the Calibur app.

  4. Copy the displayed IP address into the Remote Controller, and you’re ready to go.
The remote control mode puts every essential function right in your hand, so you can manage the bout smoothly. You can
  • start or stop the timer (on android you can also use your device’s volume buttons)

  • adjust minutes and seconds

  • set yellow or red cards

  • update touch and bout counters

  • control priority (manually or randomly).

Toy sword mode

Our wireless equipment works perfectly with the Eurofencing plastic sword and electrified vest. This training weapon functions much like a sabre, scoring a point whenever its tip touches the metal vest. Because it uses light plastic instead of steel, it offers a fun and safe way to introduce children to fencing.
Connecting the toy sword to your Calibur gear is very fast. Choose the option below that fits your setup:
  • With the Calibur App: First, update your app to the newest version. Open the application and select the "Toy sword" icon on the main menu.

  • With a traditional scoring box and Relay: You can also use the sword with a regular scoring box. Set up your Relay as usual, then press the center button three times quickly to switch to the right mode.
Please note that for the sensors to work correctly, you need to use their specific vest. We have optimized our system specifically for this Eurofencing kit to ensure the best experience for your students.

Reaction time game

The built-in Reaction Time game mode within the Calibur app offers an interactive challenge to test and train speed, making practice sessions more engaging for fencers of all skill levels.
At the top of the screen, you can switch from normal bouts to the Reaction Time game.
It works great as a playful exercise for young fencers, a crowd-attracting mini-game during public demonstrations, or a quick reflex challenge between experienced competitors.
